The Feast of the Visitation

During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.

When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."

And Mary said: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him. He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart. He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy, according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants forever."

Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

Folder for Our Lady of Lourdes

The Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes is February 11.  Here is my folder for this beautiful feast that holds a special place in my heart.

In 1858, in the grotto of Massabielle, near Lourdes in southern France, Our Lady appeared 18 times to Bernadette Soubirous, a young peasant girl.  She revealed herself as the Immaculate Conception, asked that a chapel be built on the site of the vision, and told the girl to drink from a fountain in the grotto.

No fountain was to be seen, but when Bernadette dug at a spot designated by the apparition, a spring began to flow. The water from this still flowing spring has shown remarkable healing power, though it contains no curative property that science can identify.  Lourdes has become the most famous modern shrine of Our Lady.

Coloring pages HERE (Scroll down to February 11 entry) and Faith Keepers CD which I bought from HERE.   Read more about this Feast Day HERE

These are beautiful coloring pages to use during the month of May, too, in celebration of Our Lady.
Our Lady said to young Bernadette, "I am the Immaculate Conception."

The prayer we chose is this hymm:

Immaculate Mary, thy praises we sing;

Who reignest in splendor with Jesus our King:
Ave, ave, ava Maria.
Ave, ave Maria.

In heaven the blessed thy glory proclaim;
On earth, we, thy children, invoke your sweet name.
Ave, ave, ave Maria.
Ave, ave Maria.

Thy name is our power, thy virtues our light,
Thy love is our comfort, thy pleading our might.
Ave, ave, ave Maria.
Ave, ave Maria.

We pray for our mother, the Church upon earth;
And bless, Holy Mary, the land of our birth.
Ave, ave, ave Maria.
Ave, ave Maria.

Read more about Christ's baptism HERE and HERE.  These articles are wonderful.

Bibles passages I chose for my folder:

Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be baptized by him. 14But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” 15But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he permitted Him. 16After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, 17and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”
Matthew 3:13-17

----------------

But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD.  I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

No longer will they have need to teach their friends and kinsmen how to know the LORD.  All, from least to greatest, shall know me, says the LORD, for I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sin no more.
Jeremiah 31:33-34

You could also use this folder for the Feast Day of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, which is June 24.

The Lord was Baptized, not to be cleansed Himself, but to cleanse the waters, so that those waters, cleansed by the flesh of Christ which knew no sin, might have the power of Baptism.

St. Ambrose of Milan

Prayer to St. Helen

Holy and blessed St. Helena, with love and devotion you sought to find the Cross of Our Savior.  I plead for your intercession that I may have the same love and devotion to Jesus my Lord. Like you, may I accept the trials of life with patience and hope.  Under your protection, may I carry the Cross which the Lord has given me in this life and one day may I share with you the Crown of life eternal.  St. Helena, finder of the Cross, pray for us. Amen

My Folder for the Solemnity of the Ascension

This post was lost in Blogger.  So I'm re-posting it.

Forty days after Christ's Resurrection, Our Lord ascended into Heaven.

This year, the Solemnity of the Ascension is June 2, celebrated on the following Sunday.

I found many beautiful free downloadable coloring pages on the internet. The ones I chose are HERE HERE HERE HERE HERE HERE HERE HERE HERE and HERE.

Read more about the Ascencion of Our Lord into Heaven HERE.

The Bible passage I chose:
(the bolded part below is what I put into the folder)

In the first book, Theophilus, I dealt with all that Jesus did and taught until the day he was taken up, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. He presented himself alive to them by many proofs after he had suffered, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. While meeting with them, he enjoined them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for "the promise of the Father about which you have heard me speak; for John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." When they had gathered together they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" He answered them, "It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has established by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." When He had said this, as they were looking on, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him from their sight. While they were looking intently at the sky as He was going, suddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them. They said, "Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven." Acts 1:1-11

My Folder for the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua

This is my continuing effort to make Saints Folders for the popular, and even some little known, feast days throughout the liturgical year, as a learning tool in instructing my daughter in the faith that is fun and exciting to her. And I love to color too!  Please feel free to use this folder if you find it useful.

Of our journey toward heaven, St. Therese of Lisieux tells us,  "Begin now...Believe me, don't wait until tomorrow to begin becoming a saint."

We can learn so much about a holy life by getting to know the Saints.  After all, they are the ones who have made it to heaven !
The Feast of St. Anthony of Padua is June 13.   St. Anthony has a special place in my heart.  He's helped me find countless lost articles, especially keys.  :)   He is also the Patron Saint of the town in Guatemala where my daughter was born, and every June 13, that little town has a St. Anthony festival and parade.

The prayer I chose:

Unfailing Prayer to Saint Anthony

Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints.
O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore of you to obtain for me (request). The answer to my prayer may require a miracle. Even so, you are the saint of Miracles.  O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms, and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours.  Amen.

Coloring pages of Saint Anthony are hard to find on the internet.   So I decided to order this story coloring book about St. Anthony.   You can get one HERE, HERE and HERE, for anywhere from $2.00 to $4.50.  (The last link has them on sale for $2.00).
